James Bond - Quantum of Solace

Industry: Motion Picture

"I used Nilas on Bond. They were very effective, even in full tropical sunlight. We mounted a group on the hood and powered them from the car battery. They were convincing and realistic without looking 'lit.'"
- Roberto Schaefer, ASC. DP, Quantum of Solace

The Nila JNH system was used for all of the moving vehicle shoots in Quantum of Solace. The  extremely low power draw it made it possible to power all the light necessary for any shot from the cars own battery. The conversion from a two shot to a free-driving shot was as simple as clipping a DC to AC inverter onto the battery under the hood.

In addition to the moving vehicle shots, Nilas were used in cramped sets to avoid the heat of traditional fixtures.
